The Allant Piano Trio is quickly establishing itself as one of the most exciting young ensembles today. Winners of this year's prestigious Beverly Hills Auditions in Los Angeles, pianist Hyo Kyoung Beth Nam, violinist Anna Jihyun Park and cellist Alina Lim formed the Trio at The Juilliard School in 2010, each with extensive and distinguished careers in chamber music. Most recently, the Trio was awarded the Jonathan Madrigano Entrepreneurship Grant at The Juilliard School. With this grant they will embark on a project of composing and publishing music for young chamber musicians. The trio receives coaching and direction from Juilliard School professors Toby Appel, Rohan DeSilva, Nicholas Mann and Vivian Weilerstein. Last year the Trio was invited to participate in the highly selective Yehudi Menuhin Chamber Music Festival in San Francisco. In 2011 the Trio was chosen for a three-week performance residency at The Banff Centre in Canada and was named semifinalists at the Young Concert Artist audition in New York and the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition in Norway. The Allant Trio performs throughout New York City, and recently, was featured as soloists at the South Orange Performing Arts Center in New Jersey. 

Inspired by the French musical term, “allant” — meaning “energetic” and “driving” — the three young musicians are passionate about performing for audiences of all ages and backgrounds, rediscovering the power and beauty of chamber music, from Haydn to Ravel, to contemporary composers. With this mission at heart, the Trio regularly plays during lunch hour at the soup kitchen of Calvary St. George's Episcopal Church and has given performances at the Bailey House and the James Lenox House for seniors in New York City. 

Violinist ANNA PARK studied with Professor Hyo Kang at Juilliard's Pre-College Division at age 13, where she learned many solo pieces and developed a keen interest and extensive repertoire in chamber music. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees at Juilliard and was the recipient of many scholarships including the Samsung Award and the Korean Cultural Service New York Scholarship. In 2010, she won first prize at the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra Competition. As a member of the Sejong String Orchestra, Ms. Park regularly performed and toured with the group internationally. With Sejong she has collaborated with many distinguished artists such as Robert Blocker, Sasha Cooke, Gil Shaham, Orli Shaham, Helen Huang, Elmar Oliveira and Jian Wang. Ms. Park is currently running a successful private studio in Manhattan and teaching actively at the Arete Music Academy in New Jersey. 

Cellist ALINA LIM is both a distinguished chamber musician and a solo and orchestral performer. Ms. Lim has performed with The Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the National Repertory Orchestra and the Kitchener-Waterloo and Oshawa-Durham Youth Orchestras. She has performed on the NPR radio show From the Top, where she received the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. As an orchestral musician, she has performed in venues of international recognition such as the BBC Proms in London and the Lincoln Center Festival as part of the Juilliard Orchestra Tour in 2012. Ms. Lim has participated in the Aspen Music Festival and School, ENCORE School for Strings, Meadowmount School of Music, and the Chamber Music Residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts. She is currently pursuing a Professional Studies Certificate at Mannes College under the tutelage of Marcy Rosen. Ms. Lim began her cello studies with Joowon Kim at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Canada, where she also continued her studies with David Hetherington. She has received her Bachelor and Master of Music at The Juilliard School, where she studied with Richard Aaron. 

Pianist HYO KYOUNG BETH NAM is a recent graduate of The Juilliard School where she received her doctorate of musical arts, master’s, and bachelor’s in piano performance. Ms. Nam has performed at prestigious institutions and venues, such as Weil Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, and has won numerous competitions and scholarships, including the Five Towns Music and Art Foundation Young Musician Competition and the 15th Annual Young Pianist Beethoven Competition. Nam is also a recipient of several fellowships including the Gluck Community Service Fellowship, Morse Fellowship and Piano Minor Fellowship. As an active teacher, she taught in Juilliard's Music Advancement Program where her students have been granted acceptances to Juilliard and Manhattan Pre-College divisions and the Special Music School at Kaufman Center in New York City. Nam is a piano faculty member at the Geneva Conservatory of Music in New York City and the Concordia Conservatory in Bronxville.
