with KAC, KAAGA, and Atlanta Radio Korea!
The 3rd annual Korean Festival will
be taking place at Suwanee Town Center with lots of entertainment, food, and
activities for family and friends while building awareness of metro Atlanta’s
vibrant Korean American community.
KAC is seeking English-speaking
volunteers to assist in the Korean Village by explaining elements of Korean
culture and food to the local area community.

3rd Annual Korean Festival
The Third Annual Korean Festival will
be held Oct. 15-16 at Suwanee Town Center Park. Expect no less than a
great time as the festival celebrates the traditional Korean culture and
much more.
Best of all: It’s FREE.
There
will be many performances including dance, marching band, martial arts,
traditional Korean music, band music competition, Kimchi festival,
Bibim Bop trial event, food and much more. (KFC)
애틀랜타 한인동포 사회의 화합과 축제의 장이 될 제 3회 코리안 페스티벌이 10월 15일과 16일 스와니 타운센터에서 개최된다.
지난 1, 2회 페스티벌의 성공을 기억하는 한인동포들의 관심과 기대가 나날이 고조되고 있는 가운데, 지난 15일 도라빌
한인회관에서는 제 3회 코리안 페스티벌에 관한 기자회견이 열렸다. 이날 기자회견에는 축제의 전반적인 프로그램과 일정 등이
발표됐다.
박건권 대표는 “올해로 3회째를 맞이하는 코리안 페스티벌은 규모 면이나 콘텐츠 부분에서 지난해에 비해 한 단계 더 업그레이드 됐다”며 “3회째를 맞이하는 만큼 보다 짜임새 있게 준비하고 있다”고 밝혔다.
박 대표가 밝힌 세부 프로그램에 따르면 15일 정오부터 본격적으로 시작될 페스티벌 첫날에는 미국 학생들의 아리랑을 주제로 한 마칭
밴드 공연과 사물놀이, 전통 혼례시연, 태권도 시범, 댄스 경연대회가 펼쳐지며 페스티벌 첫 날밤을 열광의 도가니로 몰아넣을 밴드
경연대회가 진행된다.
다음날인 16일 역시 정오부터 축제가 시작되며, 푸짐한 상품과 상금이 걸려있는 다양한 경연대회들이 개최될 예정이다. 한식을 대표하는 최고의 김치를 두고 경합을 벌이는 김치경연대회와 ‘나도 가수다’ 노래자랑이 이어진다.
특히 올해는 '500인분 대형 비빔밥 시연회'와 김밥 이어 말기, 태극기 만들어보기 등의 다민족이 함께 즐길 수 있는 행사가 마련돼 기대를 모으고 있다.
또한 보조 무대에 마련될 Korean Village 에서는 태극기를 직접 만들어 보는 태극기 만들기 체험과 도자기 공예, 다도, 떡 메치기 등 한국 전통문화를 체험할 수 있는 체험공간이 마련된다.
박 대표는 “40여 년 애틀랜타 한인 이민 역사를 함께 하며 밖으로는 우리들의 존재와 문화를 미국사회에 알리며 안으로는 화합을
도모하는 것이 이번 행사의 취지”라고 밝히며 각 한인 단체장 및 임원, 그리고 한인 동포들의 적극적인 참여와 성원을 부탁했다.
코리언 페스티벌은 애틀랜타 한인회가 주최하고 애틀랜타 라디오 코리아가 주관하며 주 애틀랜타 총영사관과 민주평통 애틀랜타 협의회가 특별 후원한다.
