The
Sejong Institute at the Korean Cultural Centre UK will be accepting
applications for its 2012 courses from the 9th of January 2012, 10am to 12th of January 2012. 5pm (application forms received outside of the application window will not be accepted).
These
Korean courses of 3 terms per year cater for levels from Beginners to
Advanced. As demand for the Beginners course is always very high we are
pleased to announce that there will be two Korean for Beginners courses
throughout 2012. On your application form please indicate which
Beginners class you are applying for e.g. Wednesday or Saturday.

For
each intake a limited number of spaces will be made available to
applicants whose work builds upon the strong cultural bonds between
Korea and the UK (sports, diplomatic, tourism, the arts). Should you
feel that you fit into one of these groups please include with your
application: a short cover letter and a recommendation from your
employer.

No experience of learning Korean necessary

Korean for Intermediate1

All applicants should have at least 80 class hours of prior learning Korean or equivalent experience

Korean for Intermediate2
|
All applicants should have at least 100 class hours of prior learning Korean or equivalent experience

Korean for Advanced
|
All applicants should have at least 140 class hours of prior learning Korean or equivalent experience
|
2) Minimum age to apply: 18 years and over
3) Documents: Application Form (Essential, available on the KCCUK website www.kccuk.org.uk)
To those who wish to apply for the ‘applicants with a Cultural Background’:
- Recommendation from your employer
- Any certificates of examinations passed and any Korea related qualification /awards
※ Please do not send original copies of certificates
4) Student selection
Applicants with a Cultural Background : 13 January
lottery based: 13th January 2012, 16.00 / Korean Cultural Centre UK, Seminar Room 1
※
Waiting list: applicants Students who were not successful in the first
selection process will automatically be included in the draw for the
remaining places.
※ Should you wish to attend the student selection (lottery) please indicate on your application form.
Details
of successful applicants will be uploaded on the website Friday 13th
January 2012 at 6pm and contacted individually via email.
5) Further information
Placement
test: For the levels Intermediate and above, applicants will be asked
to sit a placement test. The test will take place on Saturday 14th
January 2012 at 12 noon and will last approximately 90 minutes depending
on the situation. The test will include a brief written test and a
short conversation with one of our Korean teachers.

About the Sejong Institute
The
Sejong Institute, at the KCCUK, is a social education course that not
only teaches the Korean language but also introduces Korean culture to
students.
From
2011, the course has been reinvigorated and re-modelled. These three
new courses explore contemporary Korean Culture through the language
with modules including, cuisine, music, fashion, movies, society and
working in Korea to name but a few.
The
Course includes practical activities such as gallery tours, food
classes and singing Korean songs to help students develop their Korean
language in a modern context.
Upon completing the course students are able to express themselves in Korean on a vast range of topics.
