Join us for K-Cinema this month, featuring the acclaimed 2006 film For Horowitz (My Piano) by Director Hyeong-jin Kwon.
Pianist Ji-su (Jeong-hwa Eom) left her dreams behind for a life of
modest success teaching in a small town. Surrounded by mediocrity, Ji-su
accepts the mentorship of troubled youngster Gyung-min (Ee-jae Sin),
whose natural musical talent holds the promise of her own lost
greatness. When Gyung-min receives the opportunity that Ji-su never had,
she must decide whether to hold him close, or set him free as an
artist.
Blending comedy and drama, performance and narrative, For Horowitz
earned Hyeong-jin Kwon the Best Director prize at Korea’s Grand Bell
Awards in 2007, along with nominations for Best Music, Best Screenplay,
and Best Actress, for Jeong-hwa Eom.
Doors open at 6 pm for a reception with Korean refreshments. The film
(108 minutes) will begin promptly at 6:30 pm, followed by a moderated
discussion with KCC staff.
NOTE: Due to unforseen circumstances, the Sept. 13 screening event has
