Hyundai recently announced that a new model of Grandeur was unveiled at the 2011 LA Motor Show, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The new Grandeur is the fifth model (after the Tucson, Accent, Avante, and Sonata) that features “fluid sculpture,” a design principle that Hyundai has adhered to as it advances into the U.S. market. The new Grandeur is a large sedan along the lines of the Equus and Genesis.
Vice president Jeong Uiseon of Hyundai Motors said at the Motor Show, “Hyundai has recently established a new principle called Modern Premium through which we will keep going on to satisfy a wide range of price demands of customers. This year Hyundai is expected to exceed the four million mark in global sales for the first time. Hyundai cars have raised their brand awareness across the world, and Interbrand, the world’s leading brand consultancy, selected Hyundai as an eco-friendly automobile company.”
“The new Grandeur is just the beginning of Hyundai’s ongoing ascent as part of its ten-year Modern-Premium project. I’m proud to say that the new model is the most impressive car when compared to its rivals for elegance of design, excellence of technology, and comfort.”
The new Grandeur, the second-generation Azera, is equipped with a 3.3 Lamda GDi Engine, six-speed automatic transmission that outputs 293HP (218kW/ 297 PS), and 255 Ib.ft of torque. The car’s power is far superior to that of any rivals with 3.5L engines.
Moreover, the Grandeur has nine hidden airbags, including knee-level ones attached to the driver’s seat. There is also a shock-absorbing seat cushion that minimizes the impact on a passenger’s neck in case of a rear-end collision. In addition, the model provides a variety of conveniences such as a hands-free Bluetooth for mobile phones and telematrix Blue Link.
The new Grandeur will go on sale early next year.
Meanwhile, for the Motor Show this year, Hyundai Motors adopted a booth design with the symbolic black color and simple blue curves of their new product first in the North America in order to effectively promote Hyundai’s new Modern Premium brand image.
Hyundai caught many eyes at the Motor Show with its relatively large exhibition booth (14,992 square feet) and with its presentation of a series of eco-friendly models, including the Veloster, Equus, and Genesis and the Sonata Hybrid.
